Where you start in the world of Derlith after creating a new character depends on a combination of your race, class, and deity. Read through the following notes to help determine where you will start.
Exceptions[]
There are some notable exceptions that override all other decisions about where you start.
- If you are a ranger of any race, you will always have the option of starting in Druidwood Grove.
- If you are an assassin, a thief, a deathknight, a pureblood, or a rogue, you will not be able to start in the Holy City of Sigil.
Automatic Starting Locations[]
Some characters, based on their race / class / deity choices, are required to start in certain areas of the world.
- Are you a druid?
- If so, you will always start in Druidwood Grove.
- Are you a seraph or do you worship Enoch?
- If so, you will always start in the Holy City of Sigil.
- Are you a halfling or a gnome?
- If so, you will always start in Gnomebarrow.
- Are you a dark-elf?
- If so, you will always start in Oakspire.
- Are you a human cleric who does not worship Enoch or Aramon?
- If so, you will always start in the Free City of Highport.
- Are you a minotaur?
- If so, you will always start in Ruhrdan.
Choices[]
If you made it through this questionnaire and were not assigned a starting location, you may be able to choose where you start.
- Are you a human or a half-elf?
- You may choose to start in the Free City of Highport.
- You may choose to start in the Holy City of Sigil.
Current Default[]
Because starting locations for all the races have not been built yet, any race not mentioned above will start in the Free City of Highport, the current default starting location.
